STOP MS

On the 8th October 2019 the National MS Society launched its biggest ever appeal . The Stop MS Appeal aims to raise £100 millionover a ten year period to accelerate new research and stop MS.

Leading scientists agree MS could be stopped, with treatments for everyone in late stage trials by 2025. This revelation follows a series of scientific discoveries. These have led research leaders to believe treatments that stop disability progression are within our grasp.

For October , November and December the national society will be running a major advertising campaign, featuring six people living with MS and their families.It includes a TV advert featuring people with MS singing a version of “Don’t Stop” by Fleetwood Mac. You'll be able to see the advert on Channel 4, Dave, Drama and 4Seven. You'll also see the Appeal in newspapers, on billboards and online.

The monies raised will go to research which is looking to focus on the three steps of stopping MS :

Step 1: PREVENT IMMUNE DAMAGE

To stop MS early we need to stop our immune system damaging myelin.

Step 2: PROMOTE MYELIN REPAIR

Researchers are focused on understanding why the repair process breaks down and finding ways kick- start this natural process again.

Step 3:PROTECT NERVES FROM DAMAGE

Researchers are using their knowledge of nerves to design new ways to keep them alive and healthy.
